The Steamers Junior Rugby Union Club was formed in the year 2000 and competes in the Southern Inland Rugby Union (SIRU) competition.
The Steamers pride themselves on being a family friendly, inclusive and multicultural club with players from as far as field as New Zealand, South Africa and Europe.
Being part of our club means being part of a great community of families that encourage our boys and girls to be good rugby players and good sports in competition. Encouraging all levels of ability is at the forefront of our coaches training techniques.
SIRU runs a Gala Day competition whereby our teams play two matches every fortnight at various regional centres in the Riverina.
These Gala Days commence at the beginning of April, usually at Cootamundra.
Eight rounds are played during the course of the season culminating in the first round of the finals in August.
The final series runs for three weeks with the Grand Final being held towards the end of August.
The Steamers also proudly support a Viva 7s girl side.
VIVA 7’s Girls is the new, non-contact version of rugby 7’s that can be played by all ages, no matter the sporting background or experiences.
VIVA 7’s Girls gives participants an energized environment to have fun and get fit with fellow Steamers team mates .
Last year the Steamers Viva girls played rounds at Tumut, Wagga Wagga and Albury.
All ages are welcome. Please contact the Junior Club for more information and come along to the registration day and have a go!
The Steamers have the following age groups for 2014: Under 7’s, 9’s, 11’s, 13’s and 15’s.
